Chairwomans Welcome Message
Welcome to the 26/27 Season
It’s been a busy year for Ossett Town Juniors — 11 seasons under my belt and now my first as Club Chair.
Thank You to Our Volunteers
I’d like to firstly take a moment to thank all our volunteers including the Management Committee
( myself, Ady, Craig, James, Kate ,Matt and Mel) our age group managers, coaches , treasurers, groundsmen ,
line markers, tuck shop managers, and those that put up goals and set out respect barriers.
The volunteering and support doesn’t end there — every parent, guardian, aunt, uncle, cousin, neighbour and supporter
of the junior club has a big part to play.
Without your support, we wouldn’t have a club so thank you for all you do.
Key Dates & Fundraising
Its not only volunteering that makes a difference — we delivered a successful gala this season thanks to many of
you. Fundraising is vital to the club’s sustainability and we are already planning for next year.
Please save the date for 2027 — 12th & 13th June. Your club needs your support.
The other major fundraiser we undertake as a club is our annual Christmas Raffle.
Each year this is organised by our U8’s and I know age group manager Kirsty is already busy collecting some
fantastic prizes.
Please help us make this a success by selling as many tickets as possible.
Club Developments
A whole host of developments have been undertaken in the last 12 months. All of this is possible thanks to our volunteers and sponsors.
- New Kit Supplier: Surridge Sports — teams now receiving smart new red or blue kits.
- Sponsors: Their support enables new kits and training gear every 2 years. Updated on our website: ossetttownjnr.com.
- Social Media: Please share stories with committee members so we can highlight them.
- Referee Coordinator: Dave Ramsey has helped reinvest in the club and support our home-grown referees.
Pitch & Facilities Investment
We’ve made significant improvements to our playing and training environments:
- Pitch-side Café: We opened our pitch-side café — no need to miss the game while grabbing food.
- Line-Marking Robot: We've invested in our own line-marking robot, Mike 2.0 honouring expert line marker Mike Andrassy.
- Pitch Repairs: We've repaired goal mouths and centre circles.
- Water Delivery System: We've installed a pumped water delivery system and 12,000 litre tank.
- Ground Maintenance: We've consulted experts and scheduled verti-draining, seeding and fertilising.
- Long-term Solution: We're exploring a long-term solution: drilling a borehole to secure sustainable water access for the future.
Future Facilities Vision
We’ve submitted an expression of interest to Wakefield Council to develop the former golf course into a venue for not only our club but also the wider community. This would include:
- New 3G pitches
- Padel courts
- New community sports centre

Club Growth
To help us to allow more players to participate, we now have four additional venues for matches: Haggs Hill, South Parade, Flushdyke and Holy Trinity. We now have 502 registered players, providing football from Tots through to U17.
Player Development & Opportunities
We are committed to player development and providing opportunities for all players:
- Encouraging older players to help coach younger teams — great for CVs and life skills.
- DOE candidates already supporting U13, U11 and U10 girls teams.
- FA Future Fit: U7’s now playing 3v3 mini tournaments.
- Invested in 6 new sets of pop-up bazooka goals.
Club History Project
We are documenting the history of Ossett Town Juniors — soon to be added to the website. Please continue sharing old team photos.
Club Survey & Game Time Guidance
128 members completed our first club survey — thank you. We will communicate more this season.
Regarding game time: we support FA guidance.
- Mini football (7–11 years): Equal playing time (or as close as possible).
- Competitive fixtures: Fair game time — equivalent of half a game.
If you have concerns, please speak with coaches rather than rush to judgement.
Girls Section
Restarted in 2020 — now flourishing with 9 teams across U10 to U17.
Pearls and Rubies promoted to Division 1 — congratulations!
We aim to establish younger girls teams and start an FA Wildcats training-only session.
Accreditation & Community
We are an FA Accredited Club — providing a sustainable, well-run, safe environment. We continue to work with local schools and explore opportunities for mutual benefit.
Presentation Evenings & Coaching Opportunities
Every player receives a participation award at our annual Presentation Evenings.
We only work because of our volunteers, so if you would like to experience being a coach, then we will give you all the support you need as you find your way forward, and support and encouragement to attend the courses required, all of which will be funded by the club.
Thank You & Welcome.
Ossett Town — Our Town where football and friendships flourish.
